Supervisor: Food Service Supervisor
Salary Range: PSE Salary Schedule

Location: High School 

Conditions of work: 180 Days/8 Hrs

 

 
SUMMARY:

The position of Building Cook assists with the preparation and distribution of food items for consumption by students and school personnel; maintaining kitchen facility in a sanitary condition. Provides for efficient and effective day to day operations of food service activities.

 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Assumes responsibility for the security of foods and supplies, along with checking that all
equipment is in working condition and notifies the appropriate authority when repairs are needed.
• Plans, prepares and serves food, as well as balanced meal counts.
• Prepares food to be of consistent quality by using standardized recipes.
• Meets and follows all current sanitation and food safety standards and regulations.
• Supervises student meal service to ensure that all regulatory requirements are met.
• Responsible for meals being served on time and never delayed due to incomplete preparation activities.
• Estimates, purchases and maintains inventory of all foods, supplies, and equipment.
• Receives all deliveries, verify invoices, receipts and bills and submits to General Manager
after checking them for accuracy.
• Seeks feedback on food service operations from students, building staff, parents, and
community to continually improve the food service program.
• Produce and maintain production reports.
• Responsible for adding money to student and staff accounts and follows all cashier handling procedures.
• Will cashier during service times.
• Attend in service and/or safety meetings as required.
• Willingness to work overtime if needed.
• Daily communication with General Manger regarding the food service program.
• Checks work email daily.
• Other job duties as assigned by the General Manager

 

 QUALIFICATIONS:

• Possess an A.A. degree in food related field such as nutrition, commercial foods, culinary arts or a high school diploma and/or five (5) years related experience.
• Current food handling permit required.
• Willingness for continuous growth and skill development.
• Knowledge of state health food regulations preferred.
• Experience with the use of a computer.
• Ability to work successfully with students, staff, parents, and community members.
• Ability to lead food service workers.
• Maintains an attitude of flexibility when dealing with teammates, students and building staff.
• Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations

180-259 Day Employees- Paid leave benefits to include 10 sick days, 10 paid holidays, and 3 personal leave days.

260 Day Employee-Paid leave benefits to include a minimum of 12 sick days, 13 paid holiday and 3 personal leave days and a minimum of 10 days’ vacation after the first year.

 

*Benefits may be prorated based upon date of hire/hours per day.
