PARA-EDUCATOR II 

 

Supervisor: Building Principal

Salary Range: PSE Salary Schedule

Location/Assignment: Mt. View Elementary -Para Educator II 1:1
Conditions of work: 180 days/6.5 Hrs

 

 

SUMMARY:

The position of Para-educator II works under the supervision of the certificated teacher and other staff personnel to assist in accomplishing the goals and objectives of the instructional program within the life skills setting.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Experience in supporting diverse student needs academically at the elementary/middle and /or high school level classrooms.
• Develop plans, materials, and activities for students under the direction of the certificated
teacher.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents and community.
• Experience in positive behavior supports preferred to maintain an environment conductive to learning.
• Understand and apply program activities, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality and integrity of information and records.
• Work collaboratively with supervising teacher and colleagues.
• Keep documentation/data for teachers when requested.
• Direct contact with students in the classroom.
• Ability to be trained to support adaptive daily tasks such as eating, dressing, toileting,.
Also may include but not limited to medical procedures under the guidance of the school nurse.
• Willingness to teach independent living skills such as cooking, laundry, general personal
hygiene under the direction of the certificated teacher.
• Other duties as assigned by the Building Principal or Superintendent.


QUALIFICATIONS:

• Two years of study at an institution of higher education, it must meet the criteria of
the Higher Education Act, Section 101 (a). All classes must be at level 100 or higher, OR
• Associate’s degree OR
• Pass the ETS ParaPro Assessment test.
• Experience working with P-12 students.
• First Aid/CPR card or ability to obtain.
• Demonstrate basic computer literacy skills.
• Demonstrate consistent punctuality and attendance.
• Demonstrate flexibility with schedule changes as students’ needs change.
• Work in noisy and crowded environments.

180-259 Day Employees- Paid leave benefits to include 10 sick days, 10 paid holidays, and 3 personal leave days.

260 Day Employee-Paid leave benefits to include a minimum of 12 sick days, 13 paid holiday and 3 personal leave days and a minimum of 10 days’ vacation after the first year.

 

*Benefits may be prorated based upon date of hire/hours per day.
