Position title: Middle School Big Picture Learning (BPL) Teacher Advisor
Supervisor: Building Principal Salary Range: QEA Salary Schedule
Location/Assignment: Quincy Innovation Academy
Conditions of work: 180 days

SUMMARY:
QIA Big Picture Learning (BPL) Teacher Advisors have multi-faceted roles. An advisor teacher is an academic and social emotional learning teacher, a project development coach, and a student internship manager. Each BPL Advisor Teacher serves as the main point person for 16-18 BPL students and their families. Successful advisor teachers create a safe, trusting, and collaborative learning environment that enables students to learn through school and community experiences and develop as mature, knowledgeable, and responsible individuals with the academic and social skills needed for success after graduation. Teacher advisors help students work toward clear learning goals with support for time management and frequent actionable feedback on learning progress along their journey to high school graduation and meaningful post-secondary plans. The MS BPL teacher will teach, guide, and advise grade 6-8 students in all subject areas as a part of their individual learning plans. The MS BPL teacher will work closely with the HS BPL teacher to ensure MS students are gaining the skills needed to be successful in the HS program. The MS and HS teacher will sometimes team teach to meet the overall needs of the Grades 6-12 BPL program. The division of duties to support those students will be developed collaboratively to reflect the strengths and interests of our 2 advisor teachers.
