SUMMARY:
The position of substitue assists with the preparation and distribution of food items for consumption by students and school personnel; maintaining kitchen facility in a sanitary condition. Provides for efficient and effective day to day operations of food service activities.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Plans, prepares and serves food, as well as balanced meal counts.
• Prepares food to be of consistent quality by using standardized recipes.
• Meets and follows all current sanitation and food safety standards and regulations.
• Supervises student meal service to ensure that all regulatory requirements are met.
• Responsible for meals being served on time and never delayed due to incomplete preparation activities.
• Estimates, purchases and maintains inventory of all foods, supplies, and equipment.

• Clean kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and storing excess food properly. Cleaning duties may include, but are not limited to: equipment, utensils, serving area, dining area, floors, walls, baseboards, and storage areas.

• Keep refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat. All food and supply items are to be stored properly.
• Seeks feedback on food service operations from students, building staff, parents, and community to continually improve the food service program.
• Attend in service and/or safety meetings as required.
• Willingness to work overtime if needed.
• Other job duties as assigned by the General Manager

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Current food handling permit will be required.
• Willingness for continuous growth and skill development.
• Knowledge of state health food regulations preferred.

• Employment contingent upon successful clearance of Washington State Patro, FBI fingerprint criminal history backgroun check.
• Ability to work successfully with students, staff, parents, and community members.
• Maintains an attitude of flexibility when dealing with teammates, students and building staff.
• Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations

Substitutes are employed at will. The District may inactivate a sub from the active sub list at any time, with or without cause or notice and can cancel or deny substitute assignments. A substitute can remove themselves from the active sub list with or without notice and can cancel or deny substitute assignments. No assignment, employee manual, reference guide, board policy, reasonable assurance, other document or oral communication shall be deemed to create an employment contract or to modify the at will relationship. No person other than the School Board has the authority to bind the District to an employment contract or an agreement to modify the at- will relationship.

 

An active listing on the sub list does not guarantee an assignment. If a reasonable amount of assignments are not worked within a 12 month period a substitute may be inactivated with or without notice.
