ASL SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETER 24-25 SY

 

Supervisor: Building Principal/Director of SPED

Salary Range: PSE Salary Schedule

Location / Assignment: ASL interpreter
Conditions of Work 7 Hours/day 180 Day/Year-Contingent on continued enrollment of the student

 

SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the teacher for the deaf, performs at an
independent level in interpersonal and technical skills. An ASL Sign Language Interpreter provides services to individual students with hearing impairments and their instructional assistants within the school and home environment.

 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Assists certificated and classified staff in implementing programs for students with hearing
impairments and provides training as needed.
• Works as a resource specialist with individual students with hearing impairments and their
teachers to develop language, articulation and academic skills within the school and home
environment.
• May assist classroom teachers in understanding the role of the interpreter in issues of
students with hearing impairments.
• Maintains records of treatment given and progress made submitting records, reports and
assignments promptly and efficiently
• Deals with obstacles and constraints positively.
• Demonstrates ability to adjust to and use new approaches in the performance of his/her duties
• Provides lunch room and recess supervision
• Seeks and takes advantage of opportunities for professional growth.
• Ability to meet punctuality and attendance expectations.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of data and information as necessary.
• Ability to develop and maintain high standards of performance.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, community, and staff.
• Perform related tasks consistent with the scope and responsibility of the position.
• Must have good human relations and interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to maintain
confidentiality, and show initiative when appropriate.
• Other duties as assigned by the Building Principal or Director of Special Education.

  

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • EIPA 4.0 performance score AND a passing EIPA written score as well as the National Certification.
  • Demonstrated fluency in ASL Sign Language
  • A letter of interest
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • A resume

180-259 Day Employees- Paid leave benefits to include 10 sick days, 10 paid holidays, and 3 personal leave days.

260 Day Employee-Paid leave benefits to include a minimum of 12 sick days, 13 paid holiday and 3 personal leave days and a minimum of 10 days’ vacation after the first year.

 

*Benefits may be prorated based upon date of hire/hours per day.
