SUMMARY:

The CTE Program Coordinator supports implementation of district career and technical programs consistent with the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program Standards. Program support includes career connections, curriculum development, advisory support, post-secondary guidance, professional development for federal, state and districtwide initiatives, on-site CTE staff coaching, consultation and cross-collaboration with other departments. The CTE Program Coordinator serves as a critical member of the high school and district teams to achieve the mission of creating a culture of belonging that empowers every student to achieve academic excellence and graduate prepared for a successful future as an engaged and productive citizen. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Supports the development of CTE courses, programs, and pathways.
  • Coordinates and provides support to Career Student Leadership Organizations (CTSOs) and affiliated clubs including ASL.
  • Collaborates with post-secondary partners on the alignment of course content and credits to expand dual credit opportunities for all CTE students.
  • Supports student internship and Career Connected Learning opportunities.
  • Coordinates with elementary and middle schools to establish career pathway awareness experiences.
  • Assist with planning, executing and managing the district wide CTE related events, including CTE program advisory board meetings.
  • Work with community partners to support curricular and co-curricular initiatives and activities.
  • Provide project management and program support to the CTE department including resource development for Industry-Based Certifications.
  • Assist the CTE Director with budget analysis, grant writing/tracking, and monitoring compliance with State and Federal CTE legislation.
  • Co-monitor fund balances of programs and related financial activity to ensure that expenses are within budget limits and fiscal practices are followed.
  • Provide CTE teacher instructional supports and training in the development of CTE Frameworks, CTE Leadership Equivalency, CTSO Program of Work, and CTE Pathway documents.
  • Provide support with field trips and/or extracurricular activities.
  • Actively participate in the course and program re-approval processes (ie. Frameworks, Leadership, Employment Data, Textbook review, Etc.)
  • Create promotional marketing materials for the QSD CTE program, (CTE courses offered, career pathways, CTE graduation pathways, Etc.) to increase student enrollment numbers, community partnerships, and awareness.
  • Provide support to CTE Director by preparing a variety of program-mandated reports to ensure ongoing funding by complying with district and/or grant/program requirements or audits, as needed.
  • Provide support in the creation and maintenance of the Industry-Based Certification and Work Based Learning lists for public school accountability used to prepare students for in-demand careers in high wage occupations.
  • Cross trained Administrative Assistant with purchase order processing and invoice payments to ensure accurate accounts payable.
  • Provide input/support to streamline and refine CTE systems and procedures.
  • Attend CTE conferences/trainings as requested by the CTE Director, including those that may occur outside of the standard school day/year.
  • Skill and ability to lead adult professional learning in instructional best practices and industry-based skills and knowledge to provide equity and excellence with students of all ability levels in a diverse student population.
  • Ability to utilize technology/data to aid instruction, assessment, and learning.
  • Commitment to collaboration, teaming, and effective PLC’s.
  • Skilled in classroom management with the ability to train new CTE teachers.
  • Ability to use multiple assessment and instruction techniques.
  • Knowledge and skill in culturally responsive teaching and learning.
  • Evidence of continuous professional learning and a commitment to participate in professional growth opportunities and self-reflection.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices used to support CTE staff in the proper implementation of all federal, state and local CTE standards and initiatives to meet the post-secondary needs of all students, with expertise in working with other departments and OSPI in support of program compliance.
  • Ability to articulate and implement Common Core State Standards in Math and ELA, Next Generation Science Standards and State of Washington Essential Academic Learning Requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with students, staff, and parents in a multicultural community.
  • Demonstrated evidence of planning, organizational skills and ability to perform multiple tasks independently and collaboratively.
  • Knowledge and experience in framework development and curriculum implementation.
  • May have a CTE class assignment of up to three periods a day with all of the duties and responsibilities of a CTE teacher.
  • Provides other CTE program support as assigned by the CTE Director, Building Principal or Superintendent.

MIN QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful completion of a teacher certification program at an accredited college or university, and valid Washington state certification(s).
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Hold a Washington State CTE Program Area Certificate.
  • At least five years of successful teaching experience in CTE courses.
  • Valid First Aid/CPR with AED certification, required.
  • Demonstrated strong written, verbal, and technology skills; with special emphasis on Microsoft Suite, Adobe, and Google Suite.
  • Evidence of recent CTSO Advisor experience and classroom leadership.
